Unconscious sabotaging of your mirror image is an understatement

When you look in a mirror, you see a face that you recognize as your own. This in and of itself is a remarkable feat—other animals generally can't do this. You look for your own reflection because it is your unique source of psychic food. Looking at yourself in the mirror feeds your ego. As, actually, you don't give yourself a lot of value, sometimes even no value at all, you try to be reassured by a “surface” value.

All the "surface" imperfections stare back at you, screaming at your face that you are unworthy of love, questioning how others are way more stunning and successful, doubting even if you define success in the most appropriate way, wondering why you are always the one who seems to be suffering the most, you know the world isn't fair but still feel like you are being dragged in the dust.
Yes, happens to the best of us at times.
Unlike few people who make these thoughts a subconscious habit of running these words on autopilot whenever they look at themselves. That is exactly what breeds into a lower self esteem.
How often do we even smile at ourselves and accept who we are? The good and the bad. Smile and see through all the failures we have grown out of and realize that we have come a long way. All these flaws and how they make you more unique. Smile and make peace with the fact that life isn't like the perfect dish picked up from a menu. Smile and endure the fact that you have broken down a million times in front of the mirror but picked up the strength to hold out an olive branch at your reflection.
